LOS ANGELES Jackson Hewitt, a tax preparation firm, has issued a proposal request for creative and media services on its $30 million ad account via ABA Consulting in Dallas, according to sources.
Responses are due next week, and the review is expected to be complete by the end of June, sources said.
The Parsippany, N.J.-based client and consultancy could not be immediately reached for comment.
The creative incumbent, independent DeVito/Verdi in New York, said it had not been notified that the work is in play but would typically not defend as a matter of policy.
Sources said the client is looking for an integrated solution that could involve combining all communications work, including media and minority efforts, at a single shop.
Jackson Hewitt spent $30 million in U.S. measured media last year, excluding online outlays, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus. Almost all advertising comes in the run-up to income tax filing season.
The firm boasts 6,500 nationwide franchises. According to its 2007 annual report, the publicly traded company posted net income of $65 million on revenue of $295 million.
