2 Cheers for the 'Super Rich'

Eat the rich if you must, but leave the “super rich” alone. The economy will need their spending if everyone else starts cutting back. In an Elite Traveler magazine poll, 80 percent of the super rich (i.e., those worth $30 million-plus) said they’ll increase their spending on luxury goods and services this year, talk of recession notwithstanding. Indeed, 84 percent said they regard the economy’s current travails as an “investment opportunity.” Showing their philanthropic side, 69 percent of the super rich said they’ll even boost their charitable giving this year.
