WLTW Holds Number One for August; WCBS-FM Recaptures Second Place

WLTW-FM/Lite FM maintains its number one position in the latest overall Arbitron PPM ratings. WLTW improved to a 6.2 rating from a 6.0 in July. However, WCBS-FM (the only non-Clear Channel owned station in the Top 6) made gains, taking over sole possession of second place at 5.4.

WKTU kept pace in August, inching up slightly to a 5.2.

WHTZ/Z100 jumped .2 to 5.1, while Classic Rock station WAXQ/Q 104.3 edged up to 4.2.

Nice gains for Clear Channel’s Urban station Power 105/WWPR with an impressive .6 leap to a 4.0.

WCBS 880 is next on the survey with a 3.9 (4.0 in July).

The August ratings also represent the first for FM News WEMP/101.9. Although it’s hardly a fair sampling, even taking into account their “soft launch,” only the initial five days are included.  The Merlin Media upstart operation managed a 1.1.

By comparison, WRXP’s final rating was a 2.6 in June.
