Attention USA Today readers — the price of the paper is going up. Starting September 30, USA Today will cost $2 at newsstands. That’s up from $1, which it had been since 2008. That year the paper raised its price from 75 cents to $1.
Heidi Zimmerman, USA Today’s director of communications, said the price jump was inevitable. “As our costs continued to rise, we held our cover price at $1.00 well after other national newspapers raised their cover prices multiple times inching up to $2 and $2.50,” she told FishbowlNY. “The $2 cover price now has us competitively priced against other national newspapers.”
