OWN’s upcoming reality program Crazy.Sexy.Life. is about four African-American girlfriends who live in Harlem (Kiyah, Bershan, Chenoa, Tiffany). After a sneak preview September 3, the show is set to debut in early 2014.
In an interview with Josef Adalian conducted last month and appearing in the September 23 issue of New York magazine, Oprah Winfrey notes that OWN’s version of reality TV promises to be a little different from the Real Housewives and Jersey Shore norm:
“They’re all professional women, and they actually like each other. So they’re not calling each other bitches and ho’s all the time. They’re not standing on tables and throwing water in people’s faces. And [yet], it’s fun. It’s fun, it’s humorous, but it also has heart and some depth and meaning…”
“I’ve been talking to [the producers of Crazy. Sexy. Life.] about what is really real, what is the truth, how are women really living? Instead of this exaggerated experience that I think is often created for reality TV.
That’s great to hear. In her chat with Adalian, Winfrey also hints that she has begun to discuss the possibility of one day appearing on Broadway.
