It's Hard To Stay Quiet When It Comes to the Seattle Public Library

Big pretty buildings don’t always continue to generate press after their much-ballyhooed openings but the Rem-ified Seattle Public Library still has nice things said about it almost two years later. We enjoyed Natalia Ilyin‘s treatise about how even though she’s wary of modernism, she actually has grown quite fond of the place. And we were simply delighted with Design Within Reach’s Rob Forbes recent piece about–if you believe it–actually using the library. We especially love how he realizes renting a car to get there doesn’t seem to fit–so he takes public transportation to visit the public library.

Since Seattle is somewhere some of us are headed later today, we’re wondering if anyone can point us in the direction of the ideal architectural afternoon up in that drizzly corner of the planet.
