It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's a Toast Rack!: "Designed by Architects" at MFAH

Interior designer Margo Grant Walsh has long been obsessed with metal. Silver, copper, and mixed metals all excite, but she’s particularly smitten with metalwork objects designed by architects. Walsh, an esteemed veteran of Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill and Gensler, has amassed a collection of 800 metalwork objects from 17 countries over her lifetime, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is now highlighting about 50 works from her collection in its “Designed by Architects” exhibition, organized by MFAH curator Cindi Strauss and on view through August 3.

Through metal objects designed by prominent architects between the late 19th and 21st centuries, the show explores the intellectual and stylistic links between the design of buildings and the design of practical objects.
