There are no economies of scale—or recession discounts—when it comes to bronze busts of the Suetonian emperors, particularly when their previous owner was Gianni Versace. Not about to miss out on the red-hot market for art, furniture, and gold-dipped knickknacks amassed by late fashion designers, Sotheby’s on Wednesday auctioned property from Versace’s Lake Como villa (we like to imagine that George Clooney picked up a faux marbre obelisk or two for his nearby spread).
