Not too long ago we wrote about New Year’s resolutions and it’s hard to believe April is almost upon us, isn’t it?
Well, it may be time to dust off those notes and reacquaint ourselves with the idea of getting and staying healthy at the office especially with warmer temps on the rise.
1. Get moving! Get your juices flowing, get away from your desk. Even if this involves putting on a pair of sneakers to walk around your office lobby during lunch time (assuming of course, it’s a large lobby), it’s all good. Save errands for your lunch hour and as an excuse (sad we need to create a reason to tear away from the desk) and commit to doing them. You’ll get fresh air, you’ll stimulate your mind and of course, your body.
2. Brown bag it. Okay, so we know we’re not telling you anything you don’t already know but sometimes we need a little refresher course. Even if you brown bag your lunch and snacks two or three days a week, you’ll save some money and will probably be eating healthier.
3. Sanitize that computer. Although some offices may have trusty antibacterial Purell stations, alas yours may not. Think of all the germs you’re touching on a door handle, elevator button, copy machine. (On second thought, don’t.) Now we’re not saying we’re going to get all germophobe on you, but as we head into spring and temps begin to fluctuate, one of the best ways to fend off those germs is to nip them in the bud.
4. Stay home if you’re sick. If you’ve ever heard a co-worker saying how sick they were but dragged themselves to the office anyway, they’re not a hero. They’re a potential illness to several people. There’s nowhere you’d rather be than home if you’ve caught the flu or a nasty cold, right? Don’t be a hero, okay? Rest up and get better at home and this way, you’ll also help everyone else stay healthy at the office.
