Eugene Register Guard To 22 Employees: You're Gone

The Eugene (Ore.) Register Guard Newspaper has laid off 22 employees and eliminated a further 14 open positions, reports Oregon Public Broadcasting. 13 full-timers and 9 part-timers will lose their jobs, including nine guild members and three newsroom employees.

Eugene Newspaper Guild co-president Randi Bjornstad told OPB she didn’t know the layoffs were coming, and that she’s surprised no concessions were offered first.

Although, negotiations between guilds and management hasn’t been going too well at other papers lately…
