Dollars And Sense: Hank Greenspun School Of Journalism And Media Studies Suspends Entrance Exam

The University of Southern Nevada’s Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies has elected to do away with its entrance exam, which tested incoming students on their “writing ability and basic technical competence based on skills gained in pre-journalism core classes.”

The school is only planning to lift the exam as a requirement for the next “two or three” years beginning with the current summer session.

It appears that attempting to cull only the best and the brightest among the school’s applicants wasn’t making the most financial sense, thanks in no small part to a statewide education funding crisis Nevada is currently experiencing.
