From a recruiting perspective, it’s pretty much an assumption that recruiters go online to do their due diligence about candidates. In this day and age it would be unheard of not to poke around online. Yes, they Google, Facebook, and peruse your profile on LinkedIn.
Last week at a Recruiters MeetUp here in New York City (open to recruiters only, not job seekers – sorry! But we know where you were headed with that one…), we heard about CareerCloud, an innovative social recruiting platform. From a recruiter’s perspective, talent acquisition professionals can log on and gain access to job seeker social media profiles in one simple search (i.e., LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, G+, Tumblr, and Foursquare).
Essentially, candidates can sync their social media sites into one comprehensive social page. It’s free and users just need one social media account plus a LinkedIn account to get started.
Chris Russell, founder and CEO, explained, “Since your paper resume is what you did, your social resume is who you are. Employers want to know what you’re like. Things that you say and like on social media give them a peek inside your character….
An increasing number of employers and recruiters are using social media to evaluate candidates. Social is becoming the second resume.”
So, how does it work? Russell told us each user gets their own unique URL along with tools and badges to share across social media. “You can even use the social apply form to proactively send it to an employer if you know their email address.”
