WTOP Has Been Sold

Hubbard Broadcasting Inc. has purchased 17 radio stations nationwide, including WTOP in Washington.

A release from WTOP explained, “Deseret Management Corporation (DMC), a for-profit arm of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has agreed to sell its Bonneville International radio stations in D.C., Chicago, St. Louis and Cincinnati for $505 million.”

It’s a done deal provided it clears FCC approval.

The sale is not expected to result in any major changes at WTOP. We’ve put in a call to WTOP’s GM Joel Oxley. We’ll bring you his remarks should he have any. > Update: Oxley wrote FBDC: “No changes as a result of this sale for either WTOP or WFED. It’s business as usual for WTOP and WFED.”
