The Atlantic Will Expand Its Religion Coverage With Two Hires

The expansion will focus on religion in both a U.S. and global context.

The Atlantic announced today it’s planning to go deeper on religion with plans to hire a religion editor and an additional journalist to focus on religion, specifically in a globalized context. The focus on areas like Latin America and Central Africa will complement an overall expansion of the publication’s regional coverage in those places.

The expansion comes thanks to a two-year grant, $490,000 grant The Atlantic secured from the Henry Luce Foundation’s Henry R. Luce Initiative on Religion in International Affairs, which “supports projects that draw on scholarly expertise to foster and disseminate more nuanced, contextualized and dynamic understandings of religion in global public life, politics and policy.”
