Scott Stossel, deputy editor of The Atlantic, announced Friday that Kate Julian will be joining the magazine as a senior editor. She was previously at Slate, and before that, The New Yorker, WaPo’s Outlook section and O Magazine. Her first day is today.
See the internal memo…
I’m excited to announce that, as many of you already know, Kate Julian will be joining the magazine staff as a senior editor next week. Kate comes to us most recently from Slate, where she was the acting editor of the Double XX section. Before that, she served two extended tours of duty at The New Yorker, the latter one as the magazine’s managing editor. She has also done stints as the deputy editor of the Washington Post’s Outlook section, as a senior editor at O (The Oprah Magazine), and as a junior editor at the Council on Foreign Relations and at the late, lamented Lingua Franca. Kate will be superintending the Dispatches section and editing feature stories. Please join me in welcoming her to The Atlantic. (Her office is next to the Roanoke Room.)
Also, special thanks to Chris Orr and Nicole Allan, who have done a sterling job juggling Dispatches along with their regular duties these last few months.
