Politico Reporter Gets Shingles, Blames Self-Induced Stress
Poor Politico Pro transportation reporter Adam Snider. His doctor has diagnosed him with Shingles, a condition that typically afflicts the elderly, the stressed and overworked and can hit anyone who ever had an bad case of Chicken Pox as a child. Stressed and overworked reflects Snider’s state of being.
“It’s a mild case, I’m working today without much pain and I have no plans to lighten my workload,” Snider told FishbowlDC. “A lot of the stress is self-induced since I want to be the best reporter I can be. I’d also like to note that this is the best job I’ve ever had. And yes, I’m saying that without an angry boss breathing down my neck.”
On Twitter, the reporter points to his job as one source of his Shingles.

Sympathy being rampant in Washington, Bloomberg BNA‘s Ari Natter asks, “That’s not contagious, is it?” Snider assures Natter not to worry about him catching it since he’s not on Capitol Hill today. But as a matter of fact, Shingles is contagious, especially to those who’ve never had Chicken Pox. So for the time being, no kissing Snider. Hand holding, canoodling and whispering sweet nothings are fine.
Roll Call‘s Emma Dumain, more focused on facts, asks, “Can we add ‘Working for Politico’ to the list of ’causes’ of shingles on Web MD?”
