We told you earlier President Obama would sit down with the five nets this morning for interviews in Russia.
With Michael Jackson’s memorial all but taking over the airwaves today, the White House correspondents couldn’t resisit getting a question in to the President. With one exception– Fox’s Major Garrett. He said on “Fox & Friends” this morning he didn’t bring up Jackson. “That either makes me a very good reporter, or today, one of the worst in all of America,” Garrett said. “I’ll let our audience decide for themselves.” (h/t Politico)
ABC’s Jake Tapper, CBS’ Chip Reid, NBC’s Chuck Todd and CNN’s Ed Henry all went there. Tapper blogged Obama “joked that he’d have to discuss Michael Jackson in order to get media coverage of the U.S.-Russian summit” and that he “wasn’t at all irritated by the media attention to the funeral of the King of Pop.”
And CBS’ Mark Knoller tweets:
Asked again about Michael Jackson, Obama likened the public outpouring of grief to the deaths of Elvis, Sinatra and John Lennon.
