ICIJ Wins an Online Journalism Award for the Panama Papers

It gets the Al Neuharth Innovation in Investigative Journalism Award.

On Saturday night in Denver, the Online News Association held its annual Online Journalism Awards banquet, handing out awards for exemplary works of digital journalism.

There wasn’t a huge haul for Washington-based organizations, but the Center for Public Integrity’s International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) did pick up the the Al Neuharth Innovation in Investigative Journalism Award for its Panama Papers project.

The award was shared between the ICIJ, German publication Süddeutsche Zeitung and the over 100 other media collaborators who spent over a year parsing through and then reporting on four decades worth of leaked financial documents written in over 25 languages.
