We’re fresh out of “holiday spirit” this afternoon. But thankfully Cocktails and Conversation, the holiday party of the DC chapter of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists association, is tonight in case people want to spread their holiday cheer. We hear The Blade‘s Kevin Naff is going to be there — and he’s absolutely delightful. And by “delightful” we mean
grouchy, rude, wonderful and a shining example of a Washington journalist. In all seriousness, the chapter is self-sustaining and this is its only fundraiser of the year. Attendees help keep the chapter running. The ticket price of $30 includes drinks, hors d’ouvres and “all the holiday spirit you can muster.”
Details on NLGJA (and don’t try to say this too fast): Founded in 1990, NLGJA is an organization of journalists, media professionals, educators and students working from within the news industry to foster fair and accurate coverage of LGBT issues. NLGJA opposes all forms of workplace bias and provides professional development to its members. The DC chapter is among the largest and it’s vital that we continue NLJGA’s mission in the nation’s capital.
This year’s party is in the Langston Room at Busboys & Poets at 14th and V Streets NW. The night will feature their popular silent auction including JetBlue tickets and a chance to bid on hotel stays. Want to celebrate the holidays with Washington area journalists, communications and public relations officials? Then its settled. you’re invited. The more the merrier.
