Amtrak Fires Back at Bill Press’s Hot Dog Accusation

By Betsy Rothstein

Hold the relish. This just in from Amtrak on left-wing radio host Bill Press’s assertion posted earlier today insinuating (strongly) that he got food poisoning from a bad hot dog on board a train.

From Karina Romero in Amtrak’s Media Relations Department:

“Amtrak served 621,300 hot dogs last year on trains across the country without one report of a food-borne illness. The hot dogs are made by Hebrew National and are packaged by a reputable manufacturer with other high profile clients. We have used the services of this manufacturer for more than a decade without incident.

“We find it highly unlikely that Mr Press’s illness was the result of eating a hot dog while traveling on Amtrak. We take the safety of the food we serve on board very seriously and have the track record to prove it.”
