FishbowlDC has confirmed that Washington Life ME Christina Wilkie will be taking up residence at The Hill. Insiders tell us that she will be covering the social beat for the Cap. Hill rag. Replacing her at Washington Life is current Deputy Editor Karin Tanabe. Washington Life memo below:
Nancy Reynolds Bagley and Soroush Richard Shehabi, Editor in Chief and CEO of Washington Life magazine, are pleased to announce that Karin Tanabe, currently Deputy Editor of Washington Life, has been promoted to Managing Editor. A Washington native and a graduate of Vassar College, Karin has worked as a columnist and editor for many lifestyle publications covering society, fashion, politics, philanthropy, and high-profile personalities. She began her career as a travel writer, with articles appearing in The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Newsday, The Miami Herald, and The Houston Chronicle, among others.
FishbowlDC spoke with WL EVP Michael Clements who said that he is “very excited for Tanabe to take the reigns.” He also told us that because their existing editorial team is “very strong,” WL will likely hire a “hungry, young editor” rather than someone to take Tanabe’s current post. Time to update your resumes!
