WABC-AM's John Batchelor Visits Poland This Week

The John Batchelor Show, broadcast nationally from WABC-AM, headed to Poland for special shows on Sunday and Monday night. As Batchelor wrote on his website, he arrived “to attend the annual March of the Living that commemorates the Holocaust and the liquidation of the Krakow Jews.”

Of course, by Sunday night, there was only one topic on everyone’s mind–the death of Osama Bin Laden.

“The parallels are striking, as John and his guests eloquently reminded us,” Laurie Cantillo, WABC program director, tells FishbowlNY. “There is still much evil in the world, and we need to be vigilant and informed through thoughtful programs like this.”

On his website, Batchelor had this to say about the developments:

“Was watching this unfold from Poland, ‘way outside the reach of US partisan warfare; it was clear that Bin Laden is a minor figure to the Eastern Europeans.”

Batchelor was back on the air from New York Tuesday night, and management at his flagship station is elated.

“While John Batchelor originally said he would broadcast until Osama Bin Laden was captured or killed, he assures us he has no plans to retire,” Cantillo says.
