Time Announces Promotions, Hires

A new international editor and much more.

Time has made several editorial moves. Details are below.

  • Bryan Walsh has been named Time’s new international editor. He previously served as Tokyo bureau chief and Hong Kong correspondent.
  • Jared Malsin has been promoted to Middle East bureau chief. He most recently worked as a stringer from Cairo.
  • Katy Steinmetz has been promoted from a correspondent to San Francisco bureau chief.
  • Claire Howorth has been promoted from books editor to Time Ideas editorial director.
  • Chelsea Matiash has joined Time from The Wall Street Journal as an editor of multimedia.
  • Myles Little has been promoted to senior photo editor. He has been with Time since 2011.
  • Mikko Takkunen has been named Time.com’s international photo editor. He has been with Time since 2013.
  • Tyler Borchers has been promoted from audience engagement editor to senior audience strategy editor.
  • Ashley Ross has been named a newsfeed editor and culture writer. She also previously served as an audience engagement editor.
  • Kenneth Bachor joins as associate photo editor. He previously worked fro Spin, Rolling Stone and ABC News.
  • Josh Raab has also been named an associate photo editor.
  • Emily Straus joins as an associate partnerships editor.
  • Eliza Castro joins as photo and art coordinator.
