Washington Examiner‘s editorial director, Hugo Gurdon, announced the hiring off three journalists this afternoon — Tim Cavanaugh, Paige Winfield Cunningham, and Tara Copp.
Cavanaugh, who most recently was a news editor for National Review, will be joining the Examiner on Jan. 12 as their news editor. He previously was executive editor of The Daily Caller and web editor of the Los Angeles Times.
Cunningham will also start Jan. 12 and will cover health care for the Examiner. She will be coming from Politico, where she covered health care policy and wrote the “Pulse” morning tip sheet. Prior to that, she was a congressional reporter for the Washington Times.
Copp, a former senior defense analyst for the Government Accountability Office, will cover defense for the publication starting Jan. 20. She previously reported on the Navy for Jane’s Defense Weekly and was one of the original embedded reporters in Iraq in 2003.
