The Root to Add ‘Sophisticated’ Nightcap to CBC Legislative Conference at The Corcoran

What’s it like to party with comedian D.L. Hughley?

Some Washington area journalists such as PBS’s Gwen Ifill and “Washington Watch” Host Roland Martin are about to find out this week during the Congressional Black Caucus’ Annual Legislative Conference. The WaPo-owned The Root will host an exclusive, private, invite-only reception at The Corcoran Gallery of Art. They expect a large turnout.

Invited guests include “politicians, elected officials, key political influencers and celebrities.”  The purpose of the event is “to provide a sophisticated end to our guests’ evening of dinners and receptions,” and introduce them to the Corcoran’s latest exhibit ’30 Americans’ which will launch October 1st.

Below is a selection of “confirmed” and “invited” guests.

Confirmed: Lamman Rucker (actor, appears on TBS’ Tyler Perry’s “Meet the Browns”), Gwen Ifill, and Roland Martin.
Invited: Attorney General Eric Holder, Hosea Chanchez (actor who appeared on CW series along with “Jack and Bobby”), Laz Alonso (actor who appeared in “Avatar”), Holly Robinson Peete (actress who appeared on “Hangin’ With Mr. Hooper”), Rosario Dawson (actress), Pooch Hall (actor on BET football drama series), Kerry Washington (actress), Gabrielle Union (actress and former model) and Hill Harper (actor on “CSI: New York,” father was one of first practicing black anesthesiologists in U.S.).
