“Rupert Murdoch Is The New York Post’s True EIC” Says News Corp. Vet

0123neil.jpgThere are three obvious facts in this world: That the Pope is Catholic, that bears crap in the woods and that Rupert Murdoch influences the content of his newspapers.

The third fact was just proven in the British Parliament. Facing a House of Lords committee studying the influence of media ownership on news reporting in the UK, former Sunday Times editor Andrew Neil (pictured) stated:

  • “If you want to know what Rupert Murdoch really thinks read the editorials in the Sun and the New York Post because he is editor-in-chief of these papers.”

  • “If you want to know what Rupert Murdoch really thinks read the editorials in the Sun and the New York Post because he is editor-in-chief of these papers.”

  • “He doesn’t regard himself as editor-in-chief of the Times (of London) and the Sunday Times but he does regard himself as someone who should have more influence on these papers than anyone else.”

  • “There is no major geopolitical position that the Sun will take whether its attitude to the euro or to the current European treaty or to whom the paper will support in the upcoming general election. None of that can be decided without Rupert Murdoch’s major input.”

But the money quote from the committee meeting came out of ex-Thatcherite Lord Fowler‘s mouth: “So the evidence we received last week from the editor of the Sun that the only thing that really concerns Mr. Murdoch about the Sun’s coverage is celebrity coverage and Big Brother is basically a load of nonsense?”

See, kids? It really is a mass media conspiracy!
