When Robert Brunner split with Pentagram last year to start his firm Ammunition, we couldn’t help but be like, “Uh oh, bad call, bro.” He won us over a little with some supercool products like the P2 Pen and the Fuego BBQ. But now we’re completely positive that Brunner’s choice to go it alone was the right one. He’s made a career move that has delivered fail-proof success for other artists-gone-solo: He’s working with Dr. Dre.
Brunner collaborated with Dre and Interscope Records Chair Jimmy Iovine on Beats by Dr. Dre, a new set of high-end headphones that we can only imagine are engineered for dense, throbbing G-Funk bass. Dre concurs:
“When I’m making a track, I’m trying to capture the sound that makes me go ‘now THAT’s the shit! And I want that reaction from everybody who hears it,” says Dr. Dre. “I spend a lot of time in the studio listening to my music through headphones…with Beats, people are finally going to hear it the way they should: the way I do.”
Can we also note the awesome brilliance of the website, that loops the opening line of Dre-penned “What’s the Difference” while it flips through the headphone features: “What’s the difference between me and you?”
