We’re not entirely sure, but if we had to wager, we’d guess Natasha Case’s mobile Coolhaus spinoff has received more recent media attention than any other LA food truck. Then again, it’s not every food truck that concentrates on “architecturally inspired” ice cream sandwiches named after design visionaries and dedicated to the principles of aesthetic structure.
The latest bit of video is a segment for I Am LA, the street-level interview series housed at KCET’s Departures. It comes on the heels of last year’s inclusion of Case in a Forbes “30 Under 30” list, various Eater LA items and more.
Case explains in the KCET video how the enterprise she co-founded grew out of her grad school thesis project. She also tells a fun anecdote about how one current menu item connects to the Roland Emmerich disaster film 2012 and the inspirational words “Rome exploding.” Coolhaus is also aiming to open a second bricks-and-mortar location in Pasadena next month.
