So, let’s say MSNBC.com was posting a story about the reaction to the Michael Vick case in the African-American community. Let’s say reporter Alex Johnson came across a parody website called Newsgroper that featured fake op-eds like “Supposed lesbo lacks spice” by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and “I actually thought that the cowbell was just right” by Christopher Walken. In Johnson’s MSNBC.com piece, he quoted this graf from an op-ed written for the site by “Al Sharpton“:
Consider this: If the police caught Brett Favre running a dolphin-fighting ring out of his pool, where dolphins with spears attached to their foreheads fought each other to the death, would they bust him? Of course not.
