Longtime Time Correspondent John Stacks Dead at 70

John Stacks, a longtime correspondent for Time magazine, has died from complications due to cancer. Stacks was a vital part of Time’s reporting during the Watergate scandal and he was a mentor to many journalists.

“His tenure as Chief of Correspondents was a golden age of reportage with his oversight over the integration of Time’s once separate writing and correspondent staffs,” writes Time’s news director, Howard Chua-Eoan. “He was as much a champion of the journalists who worked for him as he was tough on the reporting they delivered to his desk. He was devoted to them all his life.”
