If you’ve perused several LinkedIn profiles in the same sitting, you may notice a trend. Check that, a responsible trend.
After all, “responsible” is the most overused buzzword on their site according to their recent survey. Looking at their 259 global members, they noticed the word responsible was used twice as often as its number two buzzword, strategic.
Interestingly enough, a few words from 2012 fell off this year’s radar screen. They include experimental, motivated, multinational and specialized. Other words that didn’t even reach the top 10 here in the U.S. but made it far elsewhere included passionate in the eyes of Australians and New Zealanders. Top words like sustainable made it to the Netherlands while enthusiastic ranked high on the list in Great Britain.
Although the social media site for professionals emphasizes demonstrating your skills and experiences by providing examples instead of relying on buzzwords, we still get a kick out of buzzwords anyway.
