Lance Does It — Barely

Lance Armstrong walked across the finish line, finishing in just under three hours and less than an hour after Marilson Gomes dos Santos, the men’s winner — Armstrong’s stated goal — but by the looks of the seven-time Tour De France winner after finishing 869th, running the New York City marathon wasn’t exactly a walk in the park with Sheryl Crow.

Armstrong said the marathon was “without a doubt the hardest physical thing I have ever done.”

“I can tell you, 20 years of pro sports, endurance sports, from triathlons to cycling, all of the Tours, even the worst days on the Tours, nothing was as hard as that and nothing left me feeling the way I feel now, in terms of just sheer fatigue and soreness.”

And, remember, this is from a guy who had once endured consecutive Sheryl Crow concerts.
