The Macy’s Annual Fourth of July Fireworks Special was the highest-rated program for the week, according to the Nielsen Company.
The fireworks and entertainment show had an estimated 2 million WNBC viewers and 9.9 rating in the 9 p.m. hour. At 10 p.m., the spectacle took number four, but dropped off considerably (768,000/3.8).
Also on WNBC, America’s Got Talent was second-best for the week with 828,000 tuned in and a 4.1 rating during its two-hour episode on July 5. The program also landed in number five for the first hour on July 5. Talent found a home at number ten (527,000/2,6).
WABC cracked the Top 5, thanks to Diane Sawyer’s exclusive interview with Jaycee Dugard on Sunday night (794,000/3.9).

A trio of Yankee games took the next slots—six, seven, and eight—combining for a 583,000 YES Network viewers and averaging a 2.9 rating.
CBS’ 60 Minutes took ninth position for the week with 551,000 WCBS watchers and a 2.7 rating.
