Hatty Named New “Live Online” Editor At Post.com

From the internal announcement, obtained by FishbowlDC:

Please join us in welcoming Michele Hatty, the new editor of Live Online. Michele comes to us from USA WEEKEND Magazine, where she was an associate editor. In the 10 years she spent with the magazine, she interviewed and profiled some of the biggest names in pop culture, from Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling to music supergroup Coldplay to McDreamy himself, Patrick Dempsey.

Michele was the magazine’s TV and Fitness editor as well as a general assignment editor editing across topics such as entertainment, pop culture, food and more. Michele managed long- and short-term projects of all sizes and forged editorial partnerships between the magazine and cable channels such as The History Channel, TLC, E! and Food Network. Prior to USA Weekend, she worked at Congressional Quarterly and USAToday.com. Originally from Detroit, Michele has an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a masters degree from Georgetown University.

Michele joins the formidable team of Rocci Fisch, Chris Hopkins and Paul Williams, who despite not having an editor for the last six months consistently produced 60 to 65 hours of amazing programming a week: from highly visible discussions with the presidential candidates, on the Bhutto assassination and about Sean Taylor’s death to discussions about the cult of celebrity and other water cooler topics. With Michele’s arrival, they can finally get some sleep. But seriously, we want to thank them for shouldering the extra load without once complaining.

In addition to her Live Online duties, Michele also will work closely with the marketing team to help determine our strategy for e-mail, RSS and widgets.

Please stop by and say hello. (She sits directly across from the Live Online pod, near Tom Kennedy’s office.)

    Jim, Liz and Ju-Don
