The Associated Press has named Gillian Wong news director for China. Wong most recently served as a technology correspondent for The Wall Street Journal.
This is a homecoming for Wong, as she previously worked for the AP from 2005 to 2014. During her time there she served as a correspondent with the AP’s Beijing and Singapore bureaus.
“I know few journalists in Asia or anywhere else who are as intrepid and creative as Gillian,” said AP Asia-Pacific news director Ted Anthony, in a statement.
