There’s been some executive shuffling at media company Vocativ, founded in 2013 by entrepreneur Mati Kochavi as a socially driven content site that scours the “deep Web” (areas purportedly missed by Google’s crawlers) for fresh insights on trending news. Among those job moves is Scott Cohen, who leaves his role as CEO to launch a new vertical in the “sports and entertainment” realm. Cohen declined to provide FishbowlNY with additional insight into his new role; however, a staff memo from Kochavi gives a general overview:
As part of this restructuring, Scott Cohen is stepping down from his role as Vocativ CEO to join one of the group’s initiatives, centered on sports and entertainment content fueled by Big Data and the Internet of Things (IoT). I’m grateful to Scott for his important contributions from the inception of Vocativ in 2012 until today.
As previously reported by TVNewser, Gregory Gittrich, former VP of news and product and executive editor of NBC News Digital, is the new chief content officer at Vocativ and will be in charge of staffing up the company’s editorial team.
