CQ Roll Call has added Gopal Ratnam and Doug Sword to the CQ news team, announced CQ Roll Call vp and news director Steve Komarow in a memo to staff.
Ratnam will cover homeland security and write the defense newsletter. “Gopal is already a well-known name in Washington defense circles,” writes Komarow of Ratnam, who was a contributing writer at the Council on Foreign Relations before coming to CQ. Prior to that, he was a senior writer at Foreign Policy magazine, a national security reporter at Bloomberg News and a reporter at Defense News.
Sword comes on as a financial services reporter. He had been a reporter at the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, and also had some first-hand business experience as the deputy controller for Indianapolis. Sword also had a stint in D.C. while in college, when he was a Capitol Hill intern.
