What single person played the biggest role / had the biggest influence on your journalism career? NBC Political Director Chuck Todd had the vision to know — long before I did — that sending me to live in Des Moines for four months before the Iowa caucuses would be the best thing that ever happened to me. So, Chuck.

When’s the last time you volunteered? Where? Does “volunteering” to cover Bill Clinton in Steubenville, Ohio, count?

Who is your favorite active journalist? Tim Russert. Anyone who’s seen the NBC team at its best in the last few months knows exactly what I mean by that. (Also, Ron Brownstein is head-spinningly smart.)

What did you have for breakfast? A banana and an unhealthy amount of coffee.

What one toiletry item could you not live without? Shampoo (for shine and bounce)

If you could have one superpower, which one would it be? The ability to make editors and spokespersons forget the last silly question I asked.

Red or white wine? Gin.

PG-13 or R? R, for pervasive strong language, thematic elements, and some crude humor.

Lincoln, Jefferson or Washington Memorial? Lincoln. No contest.

Leg or breast (chicken, of course) Leg.

Friday night or Saturday night? Friday. Fun’s more rewarding if you’re fighting through a week’s worth of fatigue.
“Wedding Crashers” or “Old School” Old School, for the debate scene.

The Palm or Cafe Milano? You vastly overestimate my classiness. I’ve been plenty happy to find an open barbeque place at the end of a long day.

Yankees or Red Sox? Conscientious objector.

Jenna or Barbara? For 2012? Gosh, I’d have to think about it.

McSteamy or McDreamy? Ummm.. lean incumbent?

Leno or Letterman? Leno pays the NBC bills.

Stewart or Colbert? Stewart for the booking, Colbert for The Word

Boxers or briefs? No, Fishbowl, I will not fall into your punny trap and answer “Depends.”
