Billy Joel Gets Weekly Radio Tribute

A few months ago, Central New York radio personality Melissa Midgley shared the following photo on her Facebook page, adding in the comments: “If only it were real.”

What is real for the lifelong Billy Joel fan is Songs From the Attic, a new weekly one-hour tribute to the troubadour that launched over the weekend on Syracuse’s WVOA 87.7 FM. Every Sunday from 10 to 11 a.m., Midgley will highlight new, old and rare songs from the entertainer, as well as things from his bandmates.

Here’s the set list for the December 28 kick-off program:

1. Prelude/Angry Young Man
2. She’s Right On Time
3. Miami 2017 (Live from Shea)
4. I Go To Extremes
5. Summer Highland Falls *Request*
6. Only Human
7. The Entertainer
8. Famous Last Words
9. Ordinary Guy (Mike DelGuidice)
10. Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
11. I’ve Loved These Days

Joel fans can stream the show live over the Internet from what is otherwise, generally, a Christian music station. And to get you in the holiday mood, here’s Joel doing a Christmas number at Madison Square Garden just before the break.

P.S. The radio program name was inspired by Joel’s first live album, released in 1981.
