Troubled Ask.com has slashed 40 jobs and announced plans to restructure the site.
In a statement, CEO Jim Safka made public that the company is retooling their search engine to focus on the female demographic, with a particular emphasis on entertainment, health and reference:
Today, we unveiled a new direction for Ask.com […] Moving forward, we will focus on our core customers, and what they come to Ask.com for most: answers. Our loyal base of 45 million unique users come to Ask.com for answers at a rate that is three times more than any other major search engine.”
