American Public Media’s ‘Marketplace’ Gets New Vice President

There was a big internal promotion announced today over at American Public Media’s “Marketplace” portfolio. Longtime reporter/editor/producer JJ Yore just got called up to become vice president/general manager. Yore has been with Marketplace for over 20 years. How often do you see that these days? He’ll now be responsible for driving growth on both the editorial and business end of the portfolio–which, incidentally, just added a four-minute tech report to its repertoire late last month.

Press release after the jump:

In a time when journalism companies are struggling, Minnesota-based American Public Media’s Marketplace portfolio is prospering – and growing.

During the last year Marketplace has inaugurated new partnerships with the New York Times and the BBC and added several high-profile series. Last month, Marketplace launched the Marketplace Tech Report, a four-minute daily technology show delivering technology news with an entertaining twist, in language everyone can understand.

Below please find American Public Media’s latest announcement regarding the promotion of JJ Yore to Vice President/General Manager of Marketplace.

As part of the original creative team that invented Marketplace more than 20 years ago, Yore has served in many capacities during his tenure (reporter, editor and broadcast producer). In his new role, Yore will be responsible for overseeing and driving growth, including editorial and business operations activity.
