It’s been a big day for executives in the B2B publishing world. Fresh off Penton Media’s hiring of three new upper managers, B2B industry advocate American Business Media today announced the appointment of Clark Pettit to the position of president and CEO.
Pettit — who has worked in the music business, done digital product strategy work for Accenture and run his own Pettit Media Group, among other things — succeeds Gordon T. Hughes II. Hughes is leaving ABM to join DFB Productions, which conducts investments in theatrical performances.
“The ABM Board made a conscious decision to select a candidate from outside the B-to-B media industry,” said ABM chairman Charles G. McCurdy in a statement. “Clark has a strong and compelling mix of management and transformational experience in the technology and digital solutions and services markets.”
ABM will partner with member companies to enhance its leadership role, while delivering new thought leadership, products, and services to members that better enable their success. At the same time, we will continue to fight for our members’ interests in Washington and develop new industry standards.
