Adam Nagourney Vs. Jeff Jarvis: When Journalists Fight

He might not look like a brawler, but he won this round.

What happens when two well-mannered journalists decide to have a war of words? You get the great Jeff Jarvis vs. Adam Nagourney e-mail war of ’07. Here’s Jarvis’ preface, a masterpiece of passive-aggressive writing:

On Tuesday, I took out after Nagourney for his Times story presenting the impression that Obama is winning over Iowa youth even though the polls, which he quotes, do not back up that hypothesis. I posted a comment on his story (though it never showed up there) and also crossposted it here.

Not to mention Jarvis also used the infamous “in the interest of transparency” line. In certain polite corners of media, this is tantamount to a declaration of war. We think Nagourney wins this round, if just on grounds of the conciseness of his reply. Coming up next: Decapitated horse heads on Nagourney’s doorstep.
