West & Vaughan picked up a pair of new business wins last week

West & Vaughan picked up a pair of new business wins last week, including a creative assignment from The Martin Agency’s client, SmartOnline.
Though the smaller shop said Martin of Richmond, Va., would “emphatically remain” lead agency for SmartOnline, W&V has been awarded corporate identity and collateral projects for the financial information provider.
Prior to the Internet, SmartOnline was called the American Institute for Financial Research. Based in Research Triangle Park, N.C., it also has offices in London and Paris.
“I know the difference between strong, focused creative and that which is not,” said client vice
president of sales and marketing Stephen Mitchem. “West & Vaughan’s work is on target and attention getting.”
Also, without a review, W&V was named the first agency of record for MDeverywhere, a software developer that has created a Palm Pilot-based point-of-care system for physicians.
The Research Triangle Park company’s lead product, Charge Capture, allows doctors to record their patients’ diagnoses and billing information. Future upgrades will also handle lab orders and prescriptions. The firm recently received $11 million in financing from Advent International, Acadia Venture Partners and Monarch Capital Partners.
Annual billings are initially pegged at $1 million. Media will include medical trade print, direct mail and online banner advertising.
The Durham, N.C., shop was invited to pitch the business based on a prior relationship with the company’s director of marketing, Ben Feldman. W&V won the account after a creative presentation.
