W.B. Doner Rises Like A Phoenix

More than 400 W.B. Doner & Co. staffers were repeating a common mantra last week: There’s no place like home.
It was moving time as the agency returned to its headquarter offices in Southfield, Mich., for the first time in nearly two years. The building was redesigned and rebuilt following a major fire that nearly totaled it in August 1996.
While the fire forced the agency into cramped temporary digs, Doner still managed to expand its client roster and staff. Annual billings rose by more than $350 million (including the Mazda North American Operations win), and 100 new employees were added.
The sacrifices made during the rebuilding also yielded a bright side: Architects added an additional floor, increasing the total floor area by 33 percent, to 106,000 square feet.
Interior designer Brian Killian created the offices’ new look, which includes a large video screen displaying creative work in the lobby.
