Virgin Airways Holds Review

NEW YORK Virgin Atlantic Airways has placed its creative and media account, held by Crispin Porter + Bogusky, into review.

While the Miami-based MDC Partners agency was invited to defend, it will not participate in the review, the client confirmed.

“Commercial objectives require a new approach to strongly position our brand and service offerings in a competitive marketplace,” said Chris Rossi, Virgin Atlantic svp, North America, in a statement. “We look forward to aggressively building on our current growth and momentum as we move into this year.”

Elizabeth Zea of Gilbert & Company is conducting the search, and the airline has a pre-selected shortlist of agencies that will vie for the account. Those shops have not been disclosed.

In recent years, the airline has spent about $5 million in domestic measured media, per TNS Media Intelligence.

Crispin said in a statement, “We are extremely proud of the work that we have done for Virgin Atlantic Airways and the results we have achieved together. They are a terrific company and we wish them nothing but the best.”

Crispin has worked on the Virgin account since 2003.
