NEW YORK MDC Partners’ Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners here has hired Neilan Tyree as director of new business, the company said.
Tyree, who started this week, replaces Steve McCall, who becomes partner, director of client business development, meaning he will try to grow existing business across Kirshenbaum accounts.
Tyree will focus on winning accounts in categories such as fashion, finance, beer, soft drinks, tourism and entertainment.
Prior to joining Kirshenbaum, Tyree worked in new business roles for agencies such as Chiat\Day, Merkley Newman Harty and JWT. From 2000-03 he wrote the “Man About Town” column for Adweek.
Asked what his new business maxim is, Tyree said, “My mission has been to help the senior most person achieve their most audacious objective. Inevitably that has to do with new revenue, but it has to be about more than that, like articulating a new vision.”
In that role, Tyree will oversee new business for all of the companies under the Kirshenbaum umbrella. Those are: KB+P, Media Kitchen, Lime Public Relations + Promotion, Dotglu and Open Mind Strategy.
“He knows what he’s doing. There aren’t that many professional new business people out there. They’re a dying breed,” said Jon Bond, agency co-founder. “He’s got a KB personality: A big ballsy personality.”
