Two public relations companies owned by True North Communications–BSMG Worldwide and Temerlin McClain Public Relations–have merged.
Temerlin McClain PR, part of Irving, Texas-based Temerlin McClain, posted 1997 revenues of $4.4 million and employs 50. It will now operate as a partnership with BSMG Worldwide, formerly Bozell Sawyer Miller Group, under the name BSMG Worldwide/Southwest.
Scott Bennett, hired as director of public relations for Temerlin McClain PR in 1995, becomes president of BSMG Worldwide/Southwest. The company has offices in three Texas cities: Irving, Austin and Houston. Its clients include American Airlines, Texas Instruments and Maxus Energy.
Bennett said Temerlin McClain retains a 50 percent stake in BSMG/Southwest. He cited BSMG’s network of global offices and its interactive capabilities as key reasons for the merger.
“Many of our clients have needs in New York and Washington and London,” said Bennett. “We needed to be part of a $70 million global company that has broader resources.”
Harris Diamond, chairman and chief executive of BSMG Worldwide, said: “Liener Temerlin and Dennis McClain have built an outstanding advertising and public relations business over the years, and we look forward to partnering with them on a wide range of integrated assignments.”
BSMG Worldwide reported 1997 revenue of about $70 million.
