CHICAGO OfficeMax has hired former BBDO Minneapolis president Bob Thacker as senior vice president of marketing and advertising, overseeing all of the company’s ad and marketing operations.

OfficeMax, which spent $45 million on advertising last year, uses Omnicom Group’s DDB Chicago as its lead advertising agency. The company’s spots have employed the Spinners song, “Rubberband Man,” and the tagline, “What’s your thing?”

The company earlier this year went through a series of executive changes including the resignations of CEO Christopher Milliken and CFO Brian Anderson amid accounting questions.
