Advertising types have been known to strike deals on the links before, but a foursome from the Dallas/Fort Worth Advertising Association really meant business when it teed off earlier this month.
The Texas representatives topped 15 other teams from around the country to finish first at the National Advertising Golf Association tournament in Sun River, Ore.
Lowelle Childers of Advo, Fred Wellington of Forbes, Jeff Blanks of Blanks Color Imaging and Kevin Hall of Temerlin McClain earned the first victory for a Dallas-area team since 1985.
Childers, who took up the game just two years ago, posted the lowest individual net score in the playing field, becoming the first woman to earn those bragging rights in the 29-year history of the tournament.
Childers, who said she enjoyed herself, will not be back in 1998 because the NAGA requires new players each year.
